Germany, 1925, Martin Heidegger is a professor of philosophy at Marburg University. His student, Hannah Arendt is fascinated by his brilliance. In this defeated country, Nazi idealism is gaining ground. Hannah, a Jew, is scared and repulsed by Hitler’s ascent. Martin believes this political movement can bring about Germany’s revival and compromises himself with the Nazis, for a while. Despite this divergence between them, the lovers continue to see each other. From 1925 to 1950, we witness five encounters of these two gifted thinkers of the twentieth century, revealing their passionate and tumultuous relationship.
